This Privacy Policy explains how the Athan App handles your information. Built with a "Privacy First" philosophy, the app ensures your personal data remains on your device and is never used for tracking, advertising, or unauthorized data collection.
Your location is used solely to calculate accurate prayer times. It is never transmitted to any server, stored persistently, or shared with third parties. GPS coordinates are resolved to a city name on-device and then discarded.
Athan alerts are scheduled entirely on your device using local notifications. No push notification service or external server is involved. Notification permissions are only used to deliver prayer time alerts at the correct times.
The app makes outbound requests to api.aladhan.com to fetch daily prayer times based on your coordinates and chosen calculation method. No personal data, device identifiers, or usage analytics are included in these requests.
Your city name, chosen calculation method, and athan toggle preferences are stored locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is automatically cleared if you uninstall the app.
The app uses Expo as its runtime framework. No analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services are included. The Nominatim reverse geocoding service (openstreetmap.org) is used to resolve coordinates to a city name locally.
